I love music. I can't go a day without listening to songs and singing along, whether it's The Cure or the music from Plants Versus Zombies. Commuting without earphones is unbearable.
In my phone, I have a "happy" playlist: songs I listen to when I'm feeling particularly cheerful, or when I'm in the mood to smile my face off. Here are my top picks.
Black Lips — Bad Kids
Heard this first in (500) Days of Summer (that film has the awesome-est OST ever).
Fall Out Boy — Hum Hallelujah
One of my favorite songs from my favorite band! I honestly don't know how you can not like it.
From Bubblegum to Sky — Even The Sunbeams
Never fails to bring a smile to my face! It's cheerful and soothing. Too bad I'm having a hard time finding torrents for this band.
The video also has a charming/funny concept:
Say Anything — Alive With The Glory of Love
My favorite song from this band. It has an interesting story behind it: it's about the singer's maternal grandparents, who are Holocaust survivors, and their struggles in the ghetto, in hiding, and eventually, in Treblinka. I know I have never been through anything as rough as that but this song really gives me hope about love. My inner cynic shuts up for four minutes of this song.
This is the acoustic, live version which is as equally amazing as the original version. I love both versions equally and would gladly take them to bed and have a threesome.
The Beatles — I Will
One of the few Beatles songs I know, thanks to The Best Friend's incessant fanboy-ing.
The lyrics are simple yet make me quite giddy.
The Cab — That 70's Song
The Cure — High
Of course, no music list would be complete without The Cure. This is my favorite song of theirs.
People have many different theories about what this song means, but for me, it's a love song. He loves someone who makes him happy but he almost let her go ("it makes me pull my hair all out to think I could have let you leave"). Personally, I love how this song makes me feel like flying, um, ~on the wings of love~. I'm not even kidding here. This song makes me that sappy.
The Cure — Mint Car
Another giddy love song. The lyrics are pretty straightforward in describing how one feels when in love.
Weezer — The Good Life
When I've had episodes of feeling down-and-out and I need to shake myself out of a rut, I listen to this. It gets me moving.
How about you guys? What are your happy songs?

The Cab — That 70's Song
Baby, we belong aloneEven though the chorus is about a couple failed at their second attempt at dating, this is actually a pretty catchy song.
Guess our second chance was blown
Baby, we belong alone
I got another you at home

The sun is up, I'm so happy I could scream
and there's nowhere else in the world I'd rather be
than here with you. It's perfect,
it's all I ever wanted
I almost can't believe that it's for real
