Ang Trip ni Rizal

I've been living in Rizal Province for three years now, but except for the Angono art trip that my mom and I have been putting off for months, I haven't gone past the municipality of San Mateo because I didn't think Rizal had much to offer in anything else—that is, until I saw the website Ang Trip ni Rizal
Ang Trip ni Rizal is a site run by individuals who have discovered the province's natural beauty, and who now wish to showcase this by encouraging people—tourists and residents alike—to experience how exciting and colorful Rizal could really be.

In order to promote tourism, they're having a contest where the winner, plus a friend, gets to go on a Rizal trip of her choosing.

I had a hard time picking just one, because most of the trip packages sound great. However, I'd prefer to go on the Historical-Educational Trip. Learning about history need not be tedious! You don't even have to go to museums or libraries if you find them boring. This Historical-Educational trip offers more of a hands-on experience where you actually get to go to the places of significance, to not only learn about history but also immerse yourself in it.
The trip's description reads: "Did you know that the oldest known work of art in the Philippines, dating back to circa 3,000 B.C. can be found in one of the rock shelters in Rizal? Learn more about caves, stalactites and stalagmites inside an 8-floor deep cave with rock formations that resemble religious images."

Spending time in the great outdoors, basking in the wonders of nature, and at the same time learning about culture and history and seeing how it has changed the way we look at things today—doesn't that sound like a great way to spend a day? A trip, after all, shouldn't just take you to new places; it should also give you new perspectives, knowledge, and inspiration, things that I am sure I'll gain from this.

This is my official entry to the Ang Trip ni Rizal — Trip ko 'to! Blog Contest.
