My choice, not yours

People will always try to make our choices for us. They think that once we tell them about our situation, their advice is automatically the one you should definitely follow. And I say definitely because people always think their solution is the end-all, be-all of your problem. Like there's nothing else to consider but their opinion, you know?

There's nothing wrong with following others' advice, especially if you really think it's the right choice for you. If you think that's sound advice, then go for it. But if what they're saying is totally the opposite of where you want to go, then you have to make a decision for yourself.
It's even harder once you've made a decision and others are second-guessing you at every chance. They keep berating you for your choice, and saying you've made a mistake. That's just about the most patronizing thing, and it is never welcome.

Still, when you know you're right, you have to stand your ground. You're not doing it for them, you're doing it for yourself, and what you think is best. It is not anyone else's decision but yours.

And when you finally prove to them that they were wrong and you were right? The vindication will be absolutely delicious.
